If you read Frugal For Less, you know we like to review survey sites and apps. There are hundreds of them, and some are real gems. You will also come across scams and a few options that are not that great. We do research to find out which legitimate survey sites exist.

iPoll is a survey site and app that gets mixed reviews. You may have heard of it while searching for paid surveys online. In this review, you will find out the facts you need to know. Is IPoll great, average or a scam? Read my full iPoll review to find out.

What is iPoll?

iPoll started as a survey site called Survey Head. The website was launched in 2008 and has since grown in popularity. In 2020, Survey Sampling International took over the site.

It is now known as the iPoll, and users can respond to mobile surveys through the iPoll app. iPoll is available to respondents in more than 30 countries.

The application keeps a cumulative total of their payments. To date, iPoll says that users have earned $ 24,408,198 in awards. According to their website, you will mainly respond to surveys about the products and services you use.

Reviews show that surveys are the main way to earn with iPoll, although there are other options as well. There are several payment / reward options to choose from.

Pros and cons of iPoll

I quickly found dozens of pages of iPoll reviews via Google. I have compiled a full list of common pros and cons that I have found. You will also find some statistics in the lists as well. This should give you an honest overview of what to expect from iPoll:

Benefits:
  • You can choose PayPal or gift cards for payments.
  • iPoll is available in 32 countries.
  • Anyone over the age of 17 can register.
  • Registering for iPoll is simple and free.
  • To date, the app has more than a million downloads.
  • The layout of the application is elegant and user-friendly.
  • The app has approximately 20,000 reviews on Google Play; around 65% to 70% of these reviews are 4 and 5 stars.
  • The average rating is 3.8 stars – not perfect, but definitely above average.
  • In addition to answering surveys, there are other ways to earn money / rewards.
  • You are given an estimate of the time for each survey before taking it.
  • You earn badges for meeting milestones and receive a small amount each time.
  • There is no confusing point system – you can see how much the survey pays in real money.
  • The amount you earn per survey is displayed before taking it.
  • Users confirm that they have been paid and / or publish proof of payment online.
The inconvenients:
  • Many users say they are excluded from surveys after answering several questions.
  • About 22% of Google Play user reviews are 1 and 2 stars.
  • Receipt of payments / gift cards may take weeks after you request it.
  • Some users say they have had problems getting paid through the app.
  • The salary per survey may be low compared to the duration of the survey.
  • Some reviews indicate that the app freezes or crashes occasionally.
  • Some users say their iPoll accounts have been suspended and / or closed without just cause.
  • Finally, iPoll reviews often mentioned that it was difficult to get useful answers from customer service.

There are clearly many positive points to consider. iPoll has worked well for 10 years, has tons of users, and everything is pretty simple.

It is easily accessible and you can choose cash or gift cards. Finally, I was happy to see that the majority of reviews on Google Play are positive.

But the negative comments are also quite disappointing. Waiting several weeks for rewards is definitely annoying. Many users also dislike the frequency with which they are excluded from surveys. It’s not uncommon with survey apps, but it’s still frustrating and it can seem like a waste of time.

Overall, I think the initial pros and cons are around 50/50. The critics of Apoll show that it is far from perfect. But it’s still often downloaded, and there are dozens of positive notes for 2020 alone. I don’t think you should exclude iPoll as an option right now.

How to join iPoll

Joining iPoll is really quick and easy. It took me less than five minutes to be paired with my first survey. As long as you are 17 or older and iPoll is available in your country, the process is simple. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Visit the IPoll website to register online or to download the application.
  2. Enter your email and choose a password.
  3. Fill out the short form on the next screen. You will be asked for your name, address and other demographic details.
  4. Answer a few more questions to match the surveys. I was asked questions about my income, living conditions, etc.

Again, it took less than five minutes via the Android app. Once I answered the last set of questions, I was paired with a $ 1.00 survey. The application is very user-friendly and I have had no technical problems so far.

If you wish to obtain iPoll payments via PayPal, you must have a Paypal account. Set up one now to make sure you get paid as quickly as possible.

Ways To Make Money With iPoll

All the ways to win with iPoll are linked to carrying out surveys. I have described the surveys and tasks below. The information is based on part of my personal experience and several reviews of iPoll users.

Investigations

Surveys are the main way to make money with iPoll. Surveys are used for market research. This means that companies use iPoll to gather opinions about their products or services. The opinion and comments of investigators are used to improve these products and services.

From what I’ve seen, iPoll surveys mainly ask you about your buying habits. They also collect demographic information. The second survey I conducted asked which online services I subscribed to – Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. He also asked questions about the purchases I planned to make, the number of people living in my house, and similar questions.

This 8-minute survey paid $ 0.50, and my first 15-minute survey paid $ 1.00. I’ve only finished these two so far. The following section explains in detail the amount of iPoll surveys.

You will see that the amount of the reward varies a lot. Be sure to read the amounts that I have listed below. Your individual earnings will vary, but some iPoll user reviews list consistent payment amounts.

Missions

Missions are small tasks and surveys based on your location. The iPoll website says, “Get rewards for every iPoll mission you complete.” This includes fun tasks such as visiting a store, taking photos, and testing products. I haven’t finished a mission yet, but here’s what I learned about them:

  • You must activate GPS location on your phone.
  • Missions take place at major retailers, fast food restaurants and similar locations. I saw Target and Dollar General mentioned in the reviews.
  • You will see the missions near you, the stores you must visit and the duration of the missions.
  • A mission I read required the iPoll user to take photos of a product display in a large retail store. iPoll uses your camera, so taking and uploading photos is simple.
  • This mission was followed by a brief survey on the purchasing habits of the iPoll user.
  • The entire iPoll mission took five minutes – excluding travel time – and paid $ 10.
  • Reports indicate that missions generally pay between $ 5 and $ 15.
  • Missions have an expiration date. You must therefore complete them within the time limit. Expiration dates seem to vary between a few hours and 1-2 days.
  • Some users receive 1-2 missions per month, but others say they only receive them every few months.

It’s easy to see that iPoll missions pay much more than regular surveys. They seem like a fun way to make money if you don’t mind traveling a bit. The only drawback is that missions can be rare. However, one mission per month will earn you around $ 5 to $ 15. It is not too shabby.

Badges

Badges are a fairly passive way to earn extra money via iPoll. Since I am new to the application, I have only received the All profiles completed badge.

I received $ 0.50 and received a notification about this badge after I completed my profile surveys, which took approximately 10 minutes in total. The other available badges listed on my dashboard include:

  • One month lifetime (gained when you have been an iPoll member for a month)
  • 3 month shelf life
  • 10 surveys in one month
  • 20 surveys in one month
  • 15 Dollars earned
  • 25 dollars earned
  • 5 surveys completed
  • 10 surveys completed
  • First redemption
  • Register for the full badge (earned once you have joined and completed your first survey)

It seems that you unlock more badges each time you earn one. Basically, you get free money to take steps. The amount of money that each badge is worth is not listed. But if they’re all worth $ 0.50 like the first one, you can get an extra $ 5.50 pretty quickly.

How much do iPoll surveys pay?

There is no simple answer to this question. The payment amount for each iPoll survey appears to vary considerably. Of course, you tend to earn more depending on the length and difficulty of the survey. IPoll reviewers list tons of different numbers.

Since the website has been around for 10 years, there is a lot of outdated information. I focused on recent comments and listed revenue from 2020 and 2020 reviews only. This should give you a pretty good idea of how much you can make.

  • I completed two surveys; one paid $ 1.00 for 15 minutes. The other paid $ 0.50 for 8 minutes.
  • One user says that surveys typically pay between $ 0.50 and $ 3.00.
  • Another user completed approximately 50 five-minute surveys before reaching a payment of $ 25.
  • An iPoll reviewer earned $ 5.00 for an hour-long investigation.
  • A user based in the UK says that 12-minute surveys generally pay £ 0.25 and that 20 to 30 minute surveys pay £ 0.75.
  • A daily iPoll user says the minimum he paid for a survey is $ 0.40. In his experience, 25-minute surveys pay around $ 1.50 each. He reports earning around $ 3.50 a day with iPoll.
  • A closer look indicates that it is common to earn $ 1.00 per 15 minute survey and $ 1.75 per 30 minute survey.
  • In March 2020, a Google Play user reported earning $ 1.00 for a 20-minute survey.
  • Most reviewers say they are offered at least a few surveys a day. This includes surveys from which they are excluded.

Overall, it looks like you can expect to earn around $ 1.00 per 15-20 minute survey. This equates to $ 3 to $ 4 an hour. While not overly impressive, it’s a fairly common hourly rate for paid survey sites and apps.

IPoll payment and reward options

IPoll payment and reward options appear to have changed over time. Currently, the app and website have three options: a $ 25 Amazon gift card, a $ 25 iTunes gift card, and a $ 25 PayPal payment. The app says that you can only use PayPal through the iPoll website.

Some user reviews indicate that you are responsible for covering PayPal transaction fees. I did not find any information to confirm this on the iPoll app or website. PayPal fees are usually around 3%, so you can end up earning $ 24.25 in total.

Verdict: Is iPoll a scam or a legitimate one?

iPoll is not the best survey site, but it is not a scam. The salary is somewhat low, and you can sometimes be excluded from surveys. Despite this, several thousand people around the world use iPoll.

It seems to be taking a long time to reach the minimum of $ 25. But despite this, people are legitimately paid.

In my opinion, the reviews of the iPoll scam are mainly based on the above information. I can see why users are frustrated, but iPoll doesn’t seem like a scam at all. It is not a good choice if you want to make money quickly. If you just want to make some free time, iPoll can be worth it.
