The government has revealed that some year-old groups will start resuming studies in early June. Similarly, some industries, including construction and manufacturing, are slowly recalling workers to work as the lockdown subsides. Teaching and childcare are given pride of place while parents combine work and school.

No one seems to have exact start dates or know for sure if plans will continue to move forward as news and updates change constantly. This leaves working parents in a difficult situation as they plan to return to work and organize child care. If you have to go back to work, but your child does not come back in a year, what do you do?

And when the summer vacation arrives shortly after the schools reopen, it may be a good time for parents to organize additional education to help their children catch up.

You can also work at the family’s home if you prefer, but this will obviously limit the number of people you can work for and how much you can earn.

Start childcare

They help you find job openings and you know you have their support if you have a problem. Although, due to the coronavirus at the moment, many agencies do not accept new applications. But it’s worth having everything you need ready so you can apply when they reopen.

Once you are a registered childminder, work with your local community to market your business and spread the word. Leave leaflets or business cards on billboards in public spaces and talk to nurseries and elementary schools about the possibility of advertising your services.

References go a long way. If you do not have any child care experience yet, a good place to start is with taking care of children in the family, friends and neighbors. You will gain experience and an understanding of your role, and then they will be able to reliably refer your business to others.

Payment is normally paid per hour, per child. The average hourly rate is £ 8 but can vary and in parts of London you can get up to £ 12 an hour.

Teach English to non-native speakers

You just need a TEFL qualification that you can complete at home, and then you’re ready to start immediately. Also check out websites like Groupon for deals. You will often find 120-hour TEFL courses (the industry standard for TEFL teaching jobs) available at discounted prices. You could also be a TESOL teacher – it’s teaching English as a second language. The course structure (and lesson plans) are slightly different. If you like doing one of them, getting the second qualification could help you grow your business!

You can settle in as a local TEFL teacher, advertise through Facebook groups and schools. Or, you can join a TEFL agency online if you are willing to work dark hours. You will offer live online learning to students from countries like Japan, Thailand and China. As these are live, you have to work in their time zone – but the pay can be pretty good (up to £ 40 an hour for experienced tutors).

Online learning has experienced a considerable spike since the start of the foreclosure and people want to learn new skills. If you have expertise in areas such as graphic design and Photoshop, marketing and business management, you can teach it in an online course.
